Details below relate to the 87th Burnham Open held during August 2005. We will soon be updating this page with dates and entry information for the 2006 tournament. The Open is one of the oldest tournaments in the country attracting entrants from primary school children to keen players in their 80's from all over the UK! Junior Tournament: Starts Monday August 8th with Finals concluding on Saturday August 13th Open to children who were under the age of 18 as of 31st December 2004 Click here for details of Junior Tournament Click here for a Junior entry form or contact Mrs Rossiter for details on [01278] 794315 Senior Tournament: Starts Wednesday August 17th with Finals on Sunday August 21st Different categories of competition available: Burnham Open - the premium event available for all adults. Mens and Ladies singles; Mens and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles Handicapped Events - competition available for all adults but stronger players start with a defecit to allow fair competition between all standards and ages (similar to golf handicap system). Men's and Ladies singles; Men's and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles handicap competition available and this year many of the handicap events are available for evening play to allow participation after work. Veterans - Mens and Ladies singles; Mens and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles for women over 40 and men over 45. Somerset Closed - competition available to players from within the county of Somerset only. Prizes will be available for best dressed, best attitude, and the winners and runners up.
