Details below relate to the 87th Burnham Open held during August 2005. 

We will soon be updating this page with dates and entry information for the 2006 tournament.  The Open is one of the oldest tournaments in the country attracting entrants from primary school children to keen players in their 80's from all over the UK! 

Our handicap tournament section also allows a very wide range of abilities to compete on a level playing field.  For more information in the meantime please contact darrenloyd@hotmail.co.uk

Junior Tournament: Starts Monday August 8th with Finals concluding on Saturday August 13th

Open to children who were under the age of 18 as of 31st December 2004

Senior Tournament:  Starts Wednesday August 17th with Finals on Sunday August 21st

Different categories of competition available:

Burnham Open - the premium event available for all adults.  Mens and Ladies singles; Mens and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles

Handicapped Events - competition available for all adults but stronger players start with a defecit to allow fair competition between all standards and ages (similar to golf handicap system).  Men's and Ladies singles; Men's and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles handicap competition available and this year many of the handicap events are available for evening play to allow participation after work.

Veterans - Mens and Ladies singles; Mens and Ladies doubles and Mixed Doubles for women over 40 and men over 45.

Somerset Closed - competition available to players from within the county of Somerset only.

Mini Tennis Open Tournament  Starts Monday August 15th and concludes Tuesday August 16th

This is a fun event for children under 10 split into two categories (under 8's - red; under 10's orange)

The mini tennis open event is a FUN BASED tournament for those that are just starting to play the game at a young age. Prizes will be available for best dressed, best attitude, and the winners and runners up.
