Every year as Christmas gets closer, our routines start to wobble just like Santa’s belly. The lights, the cosy evenings, the festive food and all the social events create a magical atmosphere, but they can also send our motivation straight up the chimney. December often pulls us away from our usual habits at the gym and into the familiar phrase “I’ll start again in January.”
Why December Feels So Hard
It’s not just you. With more socialising, extra food, higher stress levels and shorter days, even the most committed gym-goers find it challenging to stay on track. The gym can feel like a mountain when your energy is already being pulled in so many directions.
Small Movement Still Counts
Christmas doesn’t have to be a time when your good habits disappear. It can actually be an opportunity to understand what really works for you.
For me, even as a personal trainer, it’s no longer about perfect workouts. It’s about staying connected to movement in ways that feel manageable. Some days that means a quick 15-minute session. Other days it means a full workout. And sometimes, it simply means popping into the gym for the atmosphere and being around people who are trying their best too.
You Don’t Have to Do It Alone
One of the biggest helps is support. Our personal trainers are not here to judge you or demand an intense routine, especially not in December. We are here to help you find simple, realistic and achievable sessions that fit your festive schedule. Sometimes having someone check in with you is all you need to stay motivated.
Whether you book a Wellness Checkup or a personal training session, we are here to help you stay accountable and to keep moving in a way that works for your lifestyle.
Choose Consistency Over Perfection
Instead of giving up the moment things slip, this year let’s promise ourselves a different approach. Choose consistency instead of perfection. Choose movement instead of guilt. Choose support instead of struggling on your own. Show up when you can and let the Avenue Tennis team help keep you grounded during the Christmas rush.
We Are Here When You Need Us
If you want something quick, we have short and efficient classes. If you need accountability, our trainers are ready to help. You can also book personal training sessions at reception and keep an eye out for festive PT offer coming soon.
No pressure and no judgement. Just people who understand and want to support you.
If you are feeling that December dip, you are not alone. Let’s take back this season, find a new balance and reconnect with movement in a way that feels good. You might even start the new year feeling stronger than you expected.
