The safety of our members and our team is our top priority, and while things look a little different, the club will continue to provide you with a premium experience. We have incorporated extensive cleaning protocols and social distancing practices throughout the club in line with UKActive guidelines. 

Some of these measures are shown below:

  • Limiting the number of members in certain areas.
  • Hand sanitiser stations are located upon arrival and throughout the club.
  • Enhanced routine cleaning programs to ensure a high level of hygiene.
  • Reduced class occupancy to allow for social-distancing.
  • Staff will sanitise the equipment and main touchpoints after each class.
  • More space has been created in the gym to enable exercising at a safe distance.
  • Dividing screens around cardio equipment.

We have reorganised the spaces required for exercise to ensure a safe distance from each other. We ask that you avoid moving benches and that you replace gym equipment when finished. We will manage the number of members in the gym at any given time if required, to prevent any single space being overcrowded.

All the gym and fitness equipment will be deep cleaned every night with disinfectant. We will also be cleaning each piece of equipment and surfaces throughout the day, from dumbbells to treadmills and everything in between. Additionally, we ask you also to clean equipment after each use, using the disinfectant provided. 

Overnight all frequent touchpoints and surfaces will be cleaned in line with NHS decontamination guidelines using a chlorinated cleaning solution which effectively kills viruses. Our internal cleaning team will then regularly disinfect these areas throughout the day.

Installed in 2016 our purpose-built ventilation systems ensure that each of our fitness areas extracts the standing air and returns fresh filtered air continuously, this ensures we have no potential cross-contamination between different environments and that the level of air changes within each space is carefully managed.

You will find additional hand sanitising stations around the club, so it is easy to sanitise your hands during your visit. Please sanitise your hands before entering the gym to keep yourself and others safe.

What is happening with memberships?
Should you not feel quite ready to return and prefer to remain on suspension, please email There will be a standard membership suspension charge of £10.00 per month for all adults.

Do we need to book the gym?
No, pre-booking a slot in the gym is not necessary at present however we will be closely monitoring the situation once we are open and adjust as required to provide you with the best experience we can under the circumstances.

Are you restricting numbers in the gym?
We will be continuously monitoring the gym floor to ensure numbers are not too high that social distancing is not achievable. We will control the numbers in the gym with regular headcounts using clickers so we can track peaks and troughs throughout the day and manage accordingly.

How long can I stay in the gym?
We currently have no restrictions in place. Although we would ask that with some equipment not in use due to social distancing, that you exercise efficiently allowing more members to be able to use the gym throughout the day and during busy times, please try and keep workouts to a maximum of one hour.

Are the changing rooms open?
Government guidance published advise that members should arrive at the facility in sports kit ready to train and wherever possible to travel home to change/shower.

The use of changing rooms and showering facilities should, in general, be avoided but will be open for you to use if a necessity. The changing rooms will be a focal area for our intensive cleaning efforts, and we will do our utmost to best manage this situation. Please follow our Covid awareness signage to maintain appropriate social distancing and allow yourself and your fellow members' space while using the changing room facilities.

Are fitness classes still running?
We are hoping Fitness classes can resume from Monday 17th May as advised by the UK Government. 

Will I still be able to have Personal Training?
Yes, personal training is still going ahead. Our Personal Trainers will always be wearing face masks and/or visors and maintain a safe distance.

Can I bring a towel to the club?
Towels will only be allowed in the changing rooms; we are unable to allow towels in the gym area.

Will I have to wear a face mask when I work out?
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden advised gym-goers would not be required to wear face coverings. If however, you wish to do so, then that is perfectly fine.

Are the water fountains in use?
Water fountains have signage prohibiting face-to-tap drinking. Water fountains must only to be used to refill your personal bottles. Alternatively, bottles of water are available to purchase from the Avenue Bar.

Will the Health Suite be open?
We are hoping we can open the Health Suite from Monday 17th May as advised by the UK Government. 

What can I do to help?
Please stay home if you have any concerns whatsoever that you may have contracted, or been in touch with anyone infected with COVID-19.
When in the gym, following the simple guidelines: keep your distance, wash your hands, and clean down equipment before and after use via the self-cleaning stations provided.
