HOW TO BUILD YOUR SHOULDERS

How do I build my shoulders, is question trainers often get asked. A lot of gym-goers simply do exercises like the military press, dumbbell shoulder press and cable face pulls. These are all good exercises however these won’t build a good solid rounded shoulder, as all angles need to be hit hard!

The shoulder can be trained individually to produce a well rounded, strong shoulder. Choose a variety of exercises to target each part of the shoulders for a well-rounded routine. The following exercises show examples of moves targeting the shoulders—the front, middle and rear deltoids.

POSTERIOR DELT (rear)
- T bar rows
- Bent reverse dB flyes
- Chest supported row
- Face pulls

LATERAL DELTOLD (side, often forgotten about)
- Lateral raises
- Lying side laterals
- One arm side cable raise
- Arnold press

ANTERIOR DELT (front)
- Front raises
- Arnold press
- Standing/seated military press (dumbbell or barbell)
