Have you lost your mojo?

Getting your mojo back

Are you struggling to find your fitness motivation? Then, it's time to blow the dust off your gym kit and get into the gym!

Whether you're a fitness newbie or starting again, the first step is always the hardest, and sometimes it can be too easy to find an excuse not to do it.

Here are some suggestions to help you find your mojo and head to the gym:

Set a goal - This helps to make each workout more efficient. Without goals or very vague goals, it makes it harder to focus on your training and more challenging to stay motivated.

Here at Avenue, we offer our Platinum and Wellness members a Wellness Starter Session, which includes a health assessment, goal setting and a 30-minute cardio workout with your Personal Trainer. You will also discuss your goals with your Personal Trainer and then devise a personalised training program. Then, every six weeks, you can meet with your Personal Trainer for your Wellness Review to review your goals and adapt your personalised programme if necessary. This also includes a health assessment to check your progress.

Track your workouts - This is important as it lets you see how you are progressing toward reaching your goals. Monitoring your workouts also helps keep you in the right direction and make necessary adjustments to your routine to reach your goals.

Train with a friend- Training alone can be hard to stay focused and motivated. Having a training buddy can really help push you to keep going and make you feel more comfortable being in a fitness environment if you're unsure. For those who feel nervous about visiting the gym, trying a Fitness Class is a great way to take the first step! Meeting new friends with the same interests and goals and working out in a group can be incredibly motivating as it helps build confidence, giving you the confidence to visit the gym more.

Switch up your playlist - Listening to music during a workout can help to elevate your mood and increase your stamina. It can help to ease a workout and boost your energy!

Refresh your social media - Social media can be helpful for fitness. There are many apps to help track and plan workouts. However, social media can have a really negative effect on people, especially with fitness. The more concerned someone might feel about their own weight, unrealistic social media posts and 'influencers' can result in an unhealthy body image. Therefore, it's important to avoid/unfollow the unhelpful accounts and fill your feed with positive and motivational accounts to help and motivate you with your wellness journey.
