How to stay fit whilst travelling

With the warmer weather on route, you may be looking to go abroad and travel this summer. Whilst travelling, the last thing on our minds is working out! As much as consistency is key, it is also important to relax and take a break sometimes. But there are ways to incorporate light fitness into your travels to make it less difficult when you get back!

Sightseeing walks or runs - Travelling is to explore, and you will discover so much more on foot. Taking long strolls or going for a run in the morning is a great way to explore and sightsee whilst also getting your steps in! Regular walking has many health benefits, such as improving fitness levels and lowering blood pressure. It can also help with your mental health. The great views are a bonus.

Bike it - Cycling whilst travelling has many benefits! First, you are boosting your physical health whilst exploring in depth. This also allows you to get closer to nature and do fun activities alone or with family/friends.

Try water sports or head to the beach- Going for a swim is a great low impact exercise and just a fun and relaxing activity. It's something we enjoy doing, without really realising we are exercising! You can also head to the beach for a run! This is a more challenging cardio workout as the sand makes this more difficult.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day - Although another cocktail may sound tempting, it's essential to stay hydrated so that the body can work and function properly and fight exhaustion.

Listen to your body- This is most important! If your body is telling you to relax, listen to it! Jet lag or routine changes can leave your body feeling exhausted, so it is important to take it easy with light exercise and know it is ok to have a break!
