National Walking Month

May is national walking month, so it’s time to get out and about and get walking.

It’s a perfect opportunity to stretch your legs, get some exercise and burn some calories, even if it’s just around the park, during your lunch break or walking to and from the shops. The aim is for everyone to get up and walk for about 20 minutes per day.

You can improve your health, lower blood pressure and burn calories by walking 20 minutes per day. It can even make you feel brighter and lift your mood.

Tips to help you achieve 20 minutes a day:

  1. Invite a friend
  2. Arrange a walking meeting
  3. Walk to and from work
  4. Take the long route instead of the short
  5. Walk to the local shops
  6. Walk to school, leave the car
