TIPS FOR A HEALTHY HAPPY SUMMER

Summer is nearly upon us, so the question we all ask is, what can I eat to stay healthy and trim? Summer weekends at the beach, BBQs, dinners out are fantastic but are very often loaded with high-calorie foods such as pasta salads, chips, ice cream cocktails and beers.

You can still enjoy the warm weather favourites while keeping your nutrition in check. Try some of these tips...

DRINK GREEN TEA INSTEAD OF SWEET TEA
A natural component in Green Tea helps speed up the metabolism.

EAT SEAFOOD
Eat grilled salmon, tuna, lobster and calamari (squid) for a low calorie; protein-packed lunch or dinner.

DON’T SKIP BREAKFAST
When you wake up, your body is running on empty. Eating breakfast with protein, carbs and healthy fats kicks starts your metabolism into high gear and provides you with energy for the day.

ENJOY SUMMER FRUITS & VEGGIES
It's easy to get bored of eating the same veggies week after week, but when summer comes, you can make fresh choices. Include a mix of in-season colourful veggies in your meals which will give your body a nutrient kick.

SNACK AT WORK
Bring snacks to work to eat throughout the day, eating more often 5,6 times a day; you're far less likely to overeat, and it will keep you feeling energised.

HYDRATE OFTEN
The summer heat can leave you dehydrated, start the day with two glass of water and then have one glass with each meal plus drink plenty throughout the day.

POST-WORKOUT SHAKE TO RECOVER
After exercise, add some fruit to your whey protein shake to start the muscle-building process, it will help with recovery and boost your energy levels.

PLAN & PREP MEALS
Try to plan and prep all your food on a Sunday, so you have enough meals for the whole week.
